Both OEMs require a long list of extra testing and inspections in order to get certified, and both manufacturers offer perks and benefits to drivers who purchase a CPO model. Nissan has three levels of CPO programs. The majority of our CPO inventory falls into the “Nissan Certified” bucket. To earn the Nissan Certified label, the vehicle must pass a comprehensive 167-point inspection, including performance tests and an inspection of the exterior to ensure it looks as good as new. Additionally, the Nissan must be under six years old and have less than 80,000 miles on the odometer. Once certified by our staff, the CPO Nissan comes with the Nissan Certified Pre-Owned Warranty, which protects your car for seven years or 100,000 miles from the time of the original sale. Buyers also get a year or 15,000 miles of prepaid maintenance through this program. This warranty only applies to gas models.
Nissan’s other gas warranty program is Certified Select, which is reserved for older models up to 10 years old and less than 100,000 miles. Nissan Certified Select benefits include a 6-month/6,000 mile limited warranty, a complimentary maintenance visit, and an 84-point inspection. Nissan’s Certified Select program also applies to certain non-Nissan models to give you an added layer of security.
The third Nissan warranty program is EV Certified, which only applies to electric vehicles. To qualify, the EV can be up to six years old with less than 80,000 miles. The EV must also pass a 139-point inspection. The Nissan EV certified warranty is valid for seven years or 100,000 miles from the original sale. Like the Certified models, Nissan EV Certified benefits include a year of prepaid maintenance over the first year or 15,000 miles of ownership. All programs also come with roadside assistance and towing as part of the CPO package.
Chevy has a single CPO program. To qualify, the used Chevy must be within six years of production, have a clean title, and be under 75,000 miles. Models must also pass a comprehensive 172-point inspection. Once certified, you get access to the Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned warranty, which comes in two parts. All CPO models are protected by a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, an extension of the new car warranty. CPO Chevies also have a transferable 6-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. In addition to the warranties, certified pre-owned Chevrolets come with roadside assistance, two free maintenance visits during your first year of ownership, and limited trials with SiriusXM and OnStar.
